What is "tummy time"?

"Play time your child spends on his/her tummy."

Why is "tummy time" important?

"It strengthens muscles and improve coordination."

From the American Academy of Pediatrics:

"...The pediatrician should continue to encourage supervised "tummy time" on firm surfaces when the infant is awake and being observed."
